Slumdog Millionaire was freaking awesome… and actually seeing it was a bit of an adventure in itself.
We arrived at the Majestic Bay Theater in Ballard about 15 minutes before the showtime, and the line wrapped from the single window of the box office all the way to the corner of the block. Kicking myself for not pre-ordering tickets at home, I hopped onto my iPhone to try to buy tickets from their website.
I logged in and saw there were only 40 seats left for the showing, and definitely more than 40 people in front of us in line — madly tapping on the screen I managed to purchase the tickets a few minutes before the “sold out” sign appeared in the box office window. We finally made our way to the window and claimed our pre-purchased tickets and hurried into the theater.
It. was. packed.
Even single seats looked impossible to come by, so we hiked all the way up front and snagged five seats towards the center of the first row.
Our necks were craned the whole time, and I got a little woozy from the cinematography and proximity of the screen — but Slumdog Millionaire was awesome… we totally loved it.
Later this week I’ll be checking out another “Best Picture” nominee, Frost/Nixon.
